The Arthur Jacob Nature
Reserve
The wetland reserve is owned by the Royal Borough of Windsor and
Maidenhead and is situated adjacent to the Colne Brook river in the village of
Horton.
The site covers 4.6 hectares and has been created following
gravel extraction from the previously derelict land.
There are four lagoons, some with islands, and the site has been
extensively planted with trees, shrubs, wildflower meadows and aquatics.
Dipping platforms and a bird hide are provided.
The site has been open to the public since May 1996.
Pedestrian access is from Poyle Poplars Community Woodland,
Stanwell Road, where a small car park is situated.
